Synopsis
Bob and Anne are on their way to get married when car problems divert them to Jones Cove and an inn run by Dora and Kay, a lesbian couple who are planning to marry the same weekend.
The local religious fringe, led by the itinerant Pastor Stephen, has been testing the lesbians’ resolve by protesting and holding prayer vigils while the people of Jones Cove, not wanting to get involved, turn a cool shoulder.
Jean, a semi permanent guest at the inn with little patience for ‘Passhole Stephen’, helps Dora and Kay keep things in perspective.
As the wedding day approaches, Pastor Stephen, not satisfied with the zeal of the locals, brings in the Savior’s Soldiers, a motley crew of outsiders who dress up in homemade uniforms and like to carry signs.
The night before the wedding, things turn ugly when the inn is covered with hateful graffiti. This assault brings Dora and Kay to the verge of giving it all up – the wedding, the inn, Jones Cove.
Jean, Anne and Bob, with help from some of the local characters, get the inn cleaned up and the wedding back on track.
When the Pastor brings out the Soldiers in a final attempt to disrupt the wedding, he is confronted by some of the townsfolk who finally take a stand and drive Pastor Stephen and his Soldiers from the town.
A memorable double wedding follows.
